The Path To The Power You Never Lost

Creature with pump atop head drawing: Symbolizing connection to cosmic energy, receiving power from the sky.

No one can save you from yourself—or your consequences. When you hand over responsibility for your mental, emotional, or spiritual state to someone else, you give away your power. You give away your God. You choose helplessness. And in that helplessness, a limited, fearful, power-hungry world takes control of your life.

Salvation doesn’t exist in the material world, though the hope for it sells plenty of products. Capitalism promises a direct flight to an effortless, happy, beautiful life. It claims you can skip the messy middle for $999. The promise feels comforting—an easy escape from autonomy and responsibility. But, like an Enron executive, the profiteers are long gone when you realize you are just a game piece.

Our culture paints personal responsibility as grim and lonely, devoid of spontaneity or “fun.” It insists denial is easier than discipline and magical thinking is better than reality. Letting reality—or God—into the picture would expose these lies, undermining the economy built on them.

When you make someone else responsible for your negative emotions, you also make them the gatekeeper of your positive emotions. Women, in particular, have been sold the idea that helplessness is a path to freedom—that a lifesaving man will grant them the happiness they lack. But giving away your power only breeds resentment.

The burden of taking responsibility for all of someone else’s emotions is unsustainable. People can try, but eventually, the weight becomes unbearable. They begin to punish the person they were trying to save—not out of cruelty but exhaustion. Their resentment will devastate you if you depend on them to regulate your emotions. Did they make you feel this way? No—you gave up responsibility for yourself and the actualization of your soul.

No one can take responsibility for your life. No one can lead you to the places your soul is to go. Anyone or anything that claims otherwise is selling you something—and the powerlessness you feel afterward is the price. The victimhood didn’t happen to you; it came from you. Ask yourself: What stories do I tell myself about my weakness to avoid taking responsibility for my life?

The power of the universe and creation already exists inside you. Nothing you need—now or ever—exists outside of you. Salvation lies at the intersection of your reality, your soul, and your God. That intersection is within you. It’s where your pain will heal, and your joy will grow.

Find paths to that intersection. Walking in that direction means embracing personal responsibility and being grounded in faith and love. Sometimes, walking that path hand in hand with someone feels right—someone who shares your heart, your commitment to growth, and your faith. This kind of partnership is Divine. But if no such person is yet part of your journey, walking alone is no less sacred. It is an act of courage and power, a testament to your self-reliance and unwavering belief in your worth. Whether you walk alone or together, you will find peace and freedom.

Quote: You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of. Jim Rohn
